Hood River Real Estate Agent Uses Business Blog for Philanthropy

Copper West Properties, a Hood River Oregon real estate agency, uses their real estate blog to share market trends, insight into current mortgage information and even as a way to further philanthropic goals.

Maui Meyer, Copper West Properties owner and broker, recently participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, a cause important to him for many reasons including the loss of family to cancer. Meyer incorporated his donation goals in his real estate blog as well as his other business blogs, (Meyer also runs 2 local restaurants, Sixth Street Bistro and Celilo) as well as his personal blog.

The results were phenomenal, Meyer and his Hood River Rotary team of 15 (Meyer walked with fellow Rotary members and his son Nathaniel) raised $14,641. Meyers’ efforts garnering $5626, more than 1/3 of the donations. Meyer also kept his blog readers informed of progress, sharing information about intent and performance for his goal

“People want to donate their time and money to causes important to them,” says Meyer, “removing obstacles to that involvement can by key to contribution”.

The Relay for Life blog post referenced a quick sign up and donation form. The post in his business blog allowed visitors outside of Meyer’s personal friends to see his philanthropic goal of raising money for the American Cancer Society and a simple way to donate.

Busy professionals and families alike are beginning to have more interaction with technology and using that technology to achieve, not only business, but personal objectives.
